The Belmont Cafe Review
The Belmont is a very elegant place, which exceeded our expectations by delivering the ultimate dining experience. It is a true gastronomically extraordinary restaurant, located North of Melrose, their commitment is to provide an outstanding Classic American Cuisine, exceptional, friendly service in an elegant and charming setting that is also ideal for big parties. The fact that it is still the ultimate celebrity haunt shouldn’t put you off. The crowd is young and trendy, and you will certainly enjoy it as well.
At Belmont, we felt that that they take pride on attending to every detail, anticipating our needs by recommending and guiding us on our fabulous dining experience. Their décor is from 1940’s, and their menu has a large variety of excellent food.
Josh Diyer
Long Island Ice Tea / Champagne
Our meal started with a selection of appetizers that were recommended by our waiter Josh Diyer. We started with the Shrimp Special wrapped with Asian Slaw, Mushrooms, Carrots, Bean Sprouts, Red Peppers and Ginger in a Crispy Egg roll, this version for dinner comes with Potato Risotto, it was a great start, followed by the Ahi Tuna Tartar; Diced Fresh Ahi Tuna with Crispy Wontons and Papaya Salsa and Chopped Avocado, deliciously done and large enough to be shared in 2 or 3 people.

The next one was their signature dish; Mac & Cheese, prepared with Blue Crab, Apple Wood Smoked Bacon, Scallions, Tomatoes, Smoked Mozzarella, Smoked Gouda, and Swiss Cheese, this dish is a masterpiece, you’ll be amazed by the taste and the presentation, this was one of the best Mac & Cheese I ever had, really delicious, what a great choice, in fact, looking around us, I noticed that almost every table had ordered it and loved it!

Following that we had the famous Snow Crab Legs; a pound of Sweet Snow Crab Legs steamed and served with Drawn Butter and Lemon, very good and fresh. How can you not enjoy these Crab Legs, they were perfectly done and good portion for 2 people.
Snow Crab Legs
Of course, we were very excited for our main course. Josh, our waiter gave us for some suggestions, since they have an extensive menu with so many great dishes that it is hard to decide what to choose from. We escaped the Salads, but they all seemed to be very good and fresh and also a large selection such as Smoked Bacon Spinach Salad, Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna Steak, Creamy Caesar Salad, Southern Fried Chicken Cobb, The Chopped Salad, Margarita Steak Salad, Chinese Chicken Salad. If you want to have a light lunch, I believe these are great choices and you certainly satisfy your appetite.
Pecan Encrusted Sea Bass
Among their huge menu, you will be tempted to try everything, it is not easy to decide, everything looks so delicious, so we decided to try the Pecan Encrusted Sea Bass (Also available Grilled or Blackened); Fresh Sea Bass coated with a Pecan Crust, pan sautéed and topped with a Banana Rum Sauce served with Sautéed Spinach and Vegetables, this was one of the best Sea Bass we had, starting from the presentation and flavor. It was absolutely a combination of beautiful to your eyes and delicious to your palatal, specially the unusual Banana Rum Sauce which gives this dish a unique taste.
Lazy Man Lobster
And our final spectacular main course was the Lazy Man Lobster; A whole 1 ½ lb Lobster removed from it’s shell, steamed and served with Truffle Mashed Potatoes, Asparagus and a Mushroom Cream Sauce, in my opinion to make this dish an altogether melting experience the accompanying mash is a perfect sidekick, this one also is a must try.
Again their menu is huge and the choices will please anyone who loves good food, among many other fish and meat entrees you may also choose: Filet Mignon, Rib Eye, BBQ Kobe Beef Trip-Tip, Slow Braised Osso Bucco, Alaskan Halibut, Salmon Filet, Rainbow Trout Almondine and every Monday they have what they call the Big Bucket 3 pounds of Snow Crab for only $25.00.
Don’t miss the restaurant’s sinful desserts, which include such classics as Crème Brûlée, Baked Apple pie, Chocolate Mousse, as well as Chocolate Lava Cake, a great dessert to end our delicious dinner. Take a look…

Belmont Café has one of Los Angeles most remarkable wine lists. The combination of excellent food and superb service will make this culinary experience unforgettable. Our dining at Belmont left us with a distinct and lasting great impression and a desire to certainly return back and bring all of our dear family and friends.
They also have a Happy Hour, 7 Days a week from 6-7 pm, the bar service is great with a classic 1940’s Décor, they have a beautiful covered patio for dining and also private rooms available with patio and bar for private events.
Our special thanks to the Chef, to our waiter Josh and to Gary Weddle, the
restaurant manager who gently invited us over for this amazing dining experience.
