Bungalow Club Restaurant Review

A flood of hybrid nightclub-restaurants is sweeping L.A’s culinary terrain. Is celebrity cuisine the wave of the future? Recently I got the pleasure of being invited to The Bungalow Club which has been one of Los Angeles' hottest nightspots since its opening on April 2002.

This is a club where location and décor could handle any fantasy. Eclecticism
meets elegance in this contemporary-styled, Mediterranean influenced bar,
restaurant and nightclub.

The bar offers great selections of cocktails, I my case, I always search
for drinks that not only please the palate but also illuminate the tastes
of different places and eras.

         Mojito                                         Long Island Iced Tea

Flavor is everything in a drink so our Mojito was excellent. The thing
with cocktails is a synchronicity. All of our drinks had what it takes to
make our dinner spectacular.

       Champagne                                           White WIne

The Bungalow Club’s culinary pearl is tucked inside the oyster shell of a club in Hollywood, that Los Angeles' foodie community has yet to discover.

The menu, like the clubs clientele, is eclectic, pulling from many of the world's
culinary corners. But whether Chef is preparing fresh California cuisine, Asian influenced seafood like Jumbo Coconut Shrimp or classic meat dishes like Dry
Aged Rib Eye Steak, Chef's menu represents a perfect balance of flavors.

The Big Mix

We started with a marvelous selections of appetizers that were simply divine,
you must have these, if you go there, our entire table loved them, the first
dish was called The Big Mix, a medley of their finest starters complete with
Tempura Tiger Prawns, Moroccan Cigars, Chicken Egg Rolls, Chicken Satay
and their fresh Hummus. Deliciously prepared and all the items were very
tasty and crispy and had a great presentation.

Continuing with our appetizer’s feast, we got the Jumbo Coconut Shrimp, this
one was also a very good choice, a Coconut Tempura Tiger Prawns served with
fluffy plantains and a lime Thai Peanut Sauce that was to die for!

Crab Cake

A Homemade Jumbo Crab Cake served with smooth Mango Chutney and
Citrus Watercress Salad, you just can’t miss this one, and it was divine!

Calamari Fritte

Of course, my guests loved the Calamari Fritte, you just can’t go wrong, it was so unique their preparation, it was Calamari Steaks lightly Fried and served with a Roasted Pepper and Tomato Basil Sauce. One of the winners of the night!

The appetizers by itself were already a meal! But, we had to try their famous
entrees so each one of us, choose a great dish to share, and they were fantastic!

Grilled Australian Lobster Tail

We started with the Grilled Australian Lobster Tail, an 8 oz Cold-water
Lobster Tail served with lemon steamed rice, pickled cucumber and plantain
chips with a coconut curry sauce. Do I need to say that I was in heaven?

Macadamia Nut Crusted Halibut

The Macadamia Nut Crusted Halibut, a fresh local Pacific Halibut served on top of Moroccan Spiced Toasted Israeli Couscous, with Cherry Tomatoes and Baby Spinach! Ah, if you love fish, this one was the best!

The Colorado Rack of Lamb

And for meat lovers, you can’t go wrong with these entrees: The Colorado Lamb, a herb crusted Rack of Lamb, served with a Fennel and Potato Gratin, Cherry Tomato and Tarragon Salad with a lamb jus and finally the amazing Dry Aged Rib Eye Steak, a simply mouth watering bone-in Rib Eye grilled and served with Roasted Baby Fingerling Potatoes and Caramelized Onion Sauce.

Were we done? Not at all, we had to taste their spectacular Homemade Macaroni & Cheese, it was enough to be shared between us, and we all loved it; A creamy four cheese sauce mixed in pasta shells, topped with a golden breadcrumb crust, Like it Spicy? Well, just add Jalapenos… oh yes!

Homemade Macaroni & Cheese

Dinner, Drinks and Ambiance were spectacular, and what is a
spectacular dinner without desserts?

The Famous Banana Cabana

Sweet desserts and we love them, so our waitress kindly suggested that we try these two amazing ones: The famous Banana Cabana, a deliciously prepared
banana rapped in filo dough with almond tart, that was simply amazing, and if
you love Chocolate, you just can’t miss the Chocolate Mousse tart,
with whipped cream.
