Monarch Bay Club Restaurant Review

The Monarch Bay Club the hotel’s exclusive private beach club restaurant, for the city’s best California cuisine. It serves a stimulating blend of spectacular food such as char-grilled meats and seafood. Lunch and dinner are served daily as well as breakfast on Saturdays and brunch on Sundays. Some will just enjoy a relaxing stroll along the beach. Beach Butler service is provided on the beach offering guests chairs, beach towels, umbrellas and food and beverage service while reclining on the sand. Monarch Bay Club facilities are for the exclusive enjoyment of registered resort guests and members.

We went there for dinner and met with Chef Chris Juers, who was truly amazing by allowing us to taste their specialties. We were invited to first enjoy some of the fabulous appetizers and drinks at the Bar. The atmosphere is very casual, relaxing and the service is great.

These appetizers are the most popular ones, although their menu is extensive it is best experienced by sharing an assortment of well-executed appetizers, such as the Asian Vegetable Rolls with sweet oriental scallion sauce, this is great is you are vegetarian; another great item was the Buffalo Shrimp served with lettuce on a blue cheese sauce, this is very spicy! The Crispy Polenta was also a delicious Italian appetizer, and one of their very popular is the Lobster Crab Cocktail, this one you can’t miss, if you love seafood.

All of their entrees were certainly tempting. Chef Juers seemed to perfectly guess what we wanted to try without asking us. First we tried their delicious Lobster Minestrone soup, very sweet and spicy at the same time, and the White Asparagus Soup, we truly enjoyed this dish as a starter. Next was the Olive Braised Halibut; an amazing fish that you can tell it was fresh and prepared by an expert and our final dish was the Filet Mignon with Risotto, al dente, and amazing.

Desserts are certainly something you can’t miss at the Monarch Bay Club. Warm Granny Smith Apple Pie, and the Mixed Berry Cobler with White Chocolate Gelato, both were super delicious and unforgettable.

When I walk out of the door of a restaurant and can’t wait to return,
I know that place is special.
