Citizen Smith Restaurant Review
Experience this stunning restaurant, lounge, and event complex. Housed in the heart
of Hollywood. This restaurant retains the sophisticated air and elegance that will
certainly make you feel that you are a true Hollywood celebrity. The décor is enchanting
and intrigues with its dramatic mirrors and candles along the high
ceiling walls.
Nationally acclaimed Executive Chef Jose Luis Melasco
and Chef Johnny Zegarra have
created an amazing menu.
The bar is a happening place offering a selection of amazing drinks,
including my
favorite the Mojito, which is one of the best in town.
Citizen Smith can accommodate both; small, intimate private
parties as well as big
events and everything in between.
Champagne
Mojito
/ Amaretto Sour
Once seated at your table, sit back, order a Long Island Ice Tea, or the house specialty,
a Cosmopolitan, and ease into the dining experience that is Citizen Smith’s.
The servers here are on top of their game. Several of them knew patrons by name,
always a good sign. And if you've never experienced tableside presentation, understand
that Citizen Smith’s took the idea and made it an art. Each cut of
meat and fish
is carefully described as the waiter holds it before you
including a the unforgetabble
appetizers.
Jalapeno Tuna Tartare
Fried Green Tomatoes
We started with a selection of the most delicious appetizers, and I mean it! The
Jalapeno Tuna Tartare, made with Fresh Ahi Tuna with jalapenos, shallots and
chives,
dressed with wasabi vinaigrette served with acucumber and apple
salad and salt &
peppers fingerling potatos chips. Enough to be shared
in 4 people, the portions
are delicious and large.
You can’t miss their famous Fried Green Tomatoes, a cornmeal crusted fried green
tomatoes with smoked mozzarella gratin and tomatillo vinaigrette, served with microgreen
and herb salad and aged balsamic reduction. One of the best
Fried Green Tomatoes
we have ever tasted.
Cajun BBQ Shrimp
Nuts and Fruit Garnish
The Cajun BBQ Shrimp – a half pound of tiger shrimp sauteed in spicy
butter sauce,
served with a baguette, very spicy and the baguette
is terrific to eat with the
spicy sauce.
Fried Chicken Skewers
Don’t miss the Fried Chicken Skewers, a butter milk and cayenne battered
chicken,
the most tender meat you will ever try, served with honey
mustard and chipotle dipping
sauces. We all loved this one,
without any doubt the best fried chicken ever!
Tomato Basil Bisque with a Grilled Gruyere Cheese Sandwich
The Soup Smith is also a light and delicious starter, with creamy tomato basil bisque
with a grilled gruyere cheese sandwich a unique way to try a fantastic soup.
While known for its steaks, the night my guest and I dined we were pleasantly surprised
by the quality of the amazing different courses their menu offers.
Linguini & Lobster Alfredo
Mac and Cheese with Jalapeno
If you start with the Linguini & Lobster Alfredo you won't be disappointed.
The linguini pasta with butter poached Maine Lobster in a creamy roasted garlic
parmesan sauce is a fantastic dish for a pasta lover.
Filet Mignong au Poivre
My guest wanted to try the Filet Mignong au Poivre. Just then your filet arrives.
And what a filet. Don't believe those who say that because the filet is one of the
leaner cuts it doesn't have as much flavor. They haven't been to Citizen Smith’s,
which prides
itself on offering the best aged beef the USDA has to offer.
St. Louis Babyback Ribs
The St. Louis Babyback Ribs sells out and it's the wise diner who calls ahead to
reserve this bestseller. Or, try the Surf & Turf; a broiled six-ounce petit
filet and a four-ounce lobster tail, served with grilled asparagus, with sides of
bearnaise and drawn butter. Be forewarned, however, that medium rare at is actually
rare—red,
not pink, in the middle. If that's not to your liking, your server will
be more
than happy to send it back for a little more grill time.
Surf & Turf
I highly suggest you to try the side of Mac and Cheese with Jalapeno for
your companion.
This one makes a perfect counterpoint to the
savoriness of the meat you order.
The wine list is extensive but simply asking your server will guarantee a quality
selection either by the glass or the bottle. Our waiter suggested the Clos du Bois
Marlstone Meritage to accompany the filet and it lived up to my expectation.
Carmel Apple Pie
Brownie Sundae
It's hard to imagine completing a meal at Citizen Smith’s without their signature
dessert, Chef Zegarra surprise our table with a seleciton of the Carmel Apple Pie
with vanilla ice cream, a Wisconsin Cheddar Cheese Crust houses this blend of fresh
apples, Jack Daniel’s whiskey, Madagascar Vanilla doused with a carmel sauce.
Devil’s Tower Cake
A Brownie Sundae with three types of chocolate which they use in this scrumptious
walnut brownie that beds a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. Drizzled over the top
is
a rich chocolate ganache & rasperry sauce with whipped cream. And the last
one was the Devil’s tower cake, this sunfuly rich flourless chocolate truffle
cake
rests a top crème anglaise, candied walnuts, homemade
vanilla beans with marshmallows
and fresh whipped crème.
Fruit Sorbet
Chef Johnny Zegarra
After my next hard day at the office, I'll be sure to nurse myself back to good
health with this comfort food. It's absolutely delicious and a must for chocoholics.
If you're looking to create just the right event—corporate meeting, rehearsal
dinner,
or reception—be sure to ask for a tour of this amazing restaurant.
Citizen Smith's
classy décor combined with a lovely meal are
sure to make your guests feel appreciated
and pampered.
Citizen Smith's is one of Hollywood's finest Restaurant and Lounge. It's a great
place for a special night out in a relaxed yet sophisticated setting where
you will
for sure see a star and feel like one!
