Focus On AIDS, the world’s largest and most prestigious fundraiser of rare, vintage and contemporary photographs in support of AIDS research, care and education, is pleased to announce the upcoming Focus On AIDS 12 Benefit Auction. FOA is celebrating 20 years of Focus On Friday, April 27th, 2007 at the Directors Guild of America in Los Angeles.
Focus on AIDS 12 offers a chance to bid on some of the most celebrated and cutting edge photography through both a live and silent auction. Viveca Paulin will auctioneer the extraordinary Live Auction starting at 8:30PM. A few of the distinguished artists whose works have been featured in past auctions include:
Ansel Adams, George Hurrell, Richard Avedon, Annie Leibovitz, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Edward Steichen, Ruth Bernhard, Helmut Newton, and Francesco Scavullo, among many, many others.
Some of the photography up for auction at this milestone event include prints from
Diane Arbus, Sebastiao Salgado, Elliot Erwitt, Berenice Abbott, Herb Ritts, William Eggleston, Andre Kertesz, Manuel Alvarez Bravo, Ralph Gibson, Horace Bristol, and many more!
FOA hosts a Restaurant Tasting from 7:00-8:00PM where attendees can enjoy some of the best food from top Los Angeles restaurants (previous participants include Jar, Bombay Café, Campanile, The Border Grill, Pane e Vino Urth Caffe and more!) While viewing the photography, guests enjoy cocktails, wine and champagne presented by
Absolut Vodka, Korbel, Jekel Vineyards and Chambord. Focus On AIDS has raised over $2.8 million to date. Beneficiaries include: “Asha Kirana” (Ray of Hope) HIV/AIDS Hospital in Mysore India, Acres of Love, shelter program for abandoned HIV/AIDS children in South Africa, The AIDS ReSearch Alliance, a Children’s AIDS Orphanage in Cambodia and The Children’s Circle.
