Union Cattle Company Restaurant Review

The Union Cattle Company Restaurant is simply a wonderful restaurant,
with no pretense, an amazing place to make friends, eat well,
enjoy, have fun and who knows find romance.

Unlike many restaurants, the owners work at their location everyday they are striving to make Union Cattle an even and more unforgettable dining & bar experience with each passing week. They also have the best happy hour in town!

The restaurant we visited was at the Pasadena Location. Where else can you get
good music, with a large variety of beers on tap, and excellent food? The Union
Cattle offers more than just a restaurant experience. Among the traditional burger
fare appear elegant dishes that rival less casual, fine dining establishments. A
sizable wine list holds its own alongside the beer and spirits. The Union Cattle
is an equally ideal gathering place for happy hour, a business lunch, or a large
dinner party because everyone, from the burger-lover to the gourmet
connoisseur, is likely to find something that pleases their palate.

The vibrant atmosphere that was a lot more like what one might encounter on a Saturday night. We were led past their impressive bar by the hostess, and seated
in a comfortable booth near the rear of the dining area, where you could also see
the happy customers riding the Bull in order to get 8 seconds of fame! It was
really fun to see all the young people having so much fun.

Our friendly server, Lindsay , promptly arrived at our table and offered us a few of their specialty libations to begin the meal. I had a chilled glass of Chardonnay, while my guest decided to try one of their famous ‘yard of ale’ selections; in this case, a well-hopped Amber Ale that was also from northern California.

Toasted Asparagus Rolls                              Crab Au Gratin

Seared Ahi Tuna                              Crab Stuffed Mushrooms

The menu at the Union Cattle is diverse, to say the least. In addition to all of the
typical american menu that one might expect, such as burgers, sandwiches and
finger foods, Chef de Cuisine, oversees the preparation of a bevy of fine dining favorites that are designed to delight the most fastidious gourmet palate. One
example of this type of fare is their succulent appetizers, we had the opportunity
to sample a variety of delicious starters, such as Toasted Asparagus Rolls,
wrapped in a gently spiced blue cheese bread roll and toasted, the Crab Au
Gratin, dungeoness crab baked in a New Orleans roux, with a hint of lemon
juice, and delicious toasted breads, the Seared Ahi Tuna, rubbed in their unique
spice blend, served with a hot mustard sauce, the generous chunks of tuna were perfectly balanced by the slightly tart greens and were an Ahi lovers dream.

BBQ Sauteed Shrimp                         Babyback Rib Sampler

Their BBQ Sauteed Shrimp with cajun spices, sautted in a barbecue butter, and
the amazing Babyback Rib Sampler, slow-cooked overnight, with homemade
french fries. The flavors and textures of these tasty appetizers were refined,
delicate and of the highest quality.

Two Eight-Ounce Cuts of Tender Beef Wrapped in Bacon

The best, however, was yet to come, as our smiling server placed our entrées before us with a flourish. My guest practically swooned at the first bite of his Medallions Ardon; Two eight-ounce cuts of tender beef wrapped in bacon, tooped with BBQ sauteed shrimp. It was fork-tender and came with a rich blue cheese glaze. His sides were the Macaroni & Cheese and the Onion Rings, both spectacular choices.

Oven Baked Halibut, Served with a Lemon Basil

I had another of their house favorites, the fantastic Oven Baked Halibut, a house favorite served with a lemon basil. The fish was exceptionally fresh, artfully
grilled and I had a choice of 2 sides, the Creamed Spinach and the
Seasonal Vegetables. Both of these main courses were of a quality
that was equal to the finest gourmet restaurants in the city.

Chocolate Lava Cake

We could not pass without trying their desserts. The choices are amazing, I did not know what to chose, but I am a chocolat lover, so we decided to try their famous Chocolate Lava Cake – Say hello and have a mercy. Chocolate cake baked with
a hot lava chocolate in the center, served with vanilla ice cream and homemade cookies. You can’t go wrong with this one! There are also an amazing list of
great desserts, but we could not make any extra space, we will go
back for the Apple Crisp and the Bread Pudding.

I highly recommend this place to everyone who enjoys great
food and entertainment at the same time.

Co-Qwner George Collado                   Our friendly server, Lindsay

The Union Cattle is a perfect restaurant to bring large parties of diners who may have vastly different values in regard to their levels of taste and sophistication. Just as its founders had envisioned almost 5 years ago; it is a place that offers something to satisfy the gastronomic desires of nearly everyone who passes through their doors.

Our special thanks to George Collado for your hospitality and for
allowing us to have one of the best dining experience in Pasadena!
