Soleil@k Restaurant Review
The hotels is located in the heart of the Gaslamp area in San Diego, within steps of
the most popular restaurants, shops and night life that downtown San Diego has
to offer and within minutes of the area’s many galleries, convention center,
museums and local business communities.
Each of their generously scaled, light-filled guestrooms have great views, large work desks with internet access, oversized bathrooms, and spare yet elegant furnishings
that were inspired by a sense of uncomplicated sophistication.
Most of the rooms
have beautiful views. Laid out more like a comfortable
home than the typical
hotel room, the guestrooms at San Diego Marriott are the
ultimate home away from home.
Soleil@K is one of San Diegos' hottest restaurants. Talented and amazing Chef
Scott Leibfried brings his critically acclaimed fantastic cuisine to this charming restaurant. Diners may choose to be served either indoors with its chic interior,
or on the sensuous patio which includes a stunning view to the street.
Welcome to a new style of dining – bold, fresh and creative, where
contemporary meets classic, and casual elegance is redefined. The ecletic design and
innovative cuisine create a memorable experience for
breakfast, lunch
or dinner. From appetizers to entrees, Soleil@K is
California
dining at its best…warm, comfortable and delicious.
At Soleil@K the spirit of community starts with sharing. Their menu and communal style tables are designed to bring people together, as meal time was meant to. Join
in the spirit by ordering several small plates for your table to share and enjoy.
Mussel Chowder
Lobster Spring Rolls
We started with a great selection of appetizers, which our great server Michelle
guided us. First we tried their amazing Mussel Chowder, with pancetta, cream
and shoestring potatoes, certainly a great starter and I did not know that
a Mussel Chowder could taste this good!
Our server Michelle
Champagne Sampler
Our server Michelle was impeccable, and also help us with our choice of wines, starting with the Cakebreak Cellars, from Napa, and a selection of 3 champagnes:
The Chandon Brut Classic, Moet & Chandon Nectar Imperial
and Piper-Hiedsieck Brut.
Artisan Flatbread (Roasted Mushroom with Ricotta, Spinach and Truffle Oil)
I could not pass without asking to try their famous Artisan Flatbreads, this is one of the best flatbreads I’ve ever tried, our choice was the Roasted Mushroom with ricotta, baby spinach and truffle oil, you can make a meal out of this one. I loved it!
Watermelon Salad
Next we sampled their famous Watermelon Salad, with pine nuts, arugula, ricotta salata on a white balsamic vinaigrette. A great and light salad for sure!
Pork Postickers
The Pork Postickers and the Lobster Spring Rolls were our favorite, we love
these two appetizers, simple with a great taste and flavors. Chef Scott Leibfried
really has
a talent for making simple but delicious food.
Day Beat Scallops
The Chef also sent us a sampler of
their incredible Day Beat Scallops, served
with sweet corn risotto,
green apples, smoked bacon, simply divine!
Alaskan Halibut
As far as our entrees, since I am a fish lover, my choice was the Alaskan Halibut, a hand rolled pasta, with morel mushroom, peas, baby spinach, this was simply the
best Halibut I’ve ever had, fresh and delicious, and the pasta was to die for.
Ranch Grass Fed New York Strip
My guest tried the Start Ranch Grass Fed New York Strip, that comes with a
twice baked potato, rapini, spring garlic, home made worcertershire, one
of the best and finest meat you can ever eat.
Air Dried Sonoma Duck
Chef Scott Leibfried, also sent us
a sampler of their Air Dried Sonoma Duck,
with shiitake mushroom puree, bok
choy, confit spring roll, on a five
spice duck glaze. It can’t get better than that!
Chocolate and Peanut Butter Semi-Freddo
But of course, we can’t leave without trying their superp desserts, and again Chef
Scott Leibfried sent us 2 of their most delicious desserts: the Chocolate and Peanut Butter semi-freddo, and the Caramel & Cream Soda Float with vanilla ice cream, and shaved chocolate, both were again, one of the best desserts we could ever try.
Caramel & Cream Soda Float

After dinner, you should go to Altitude Sky Bar and Garden Lounge; it is where
the fun starts. Located at the Top of the San Diego Marriott Gaslamp Quarter
