Trumps Restaurant Review
Trump National Golf Club located on the
luxurious Palos Verdes Peninsula just thirty minutes south of Downtown Los Angeles,
Trump National serves as the perfect
busy executive’s getaway. Club amenities are
second to none. From the
moment you turn down Trump National Drive, the spectacular
views
and exceptional service embrace you like no place else.
Trump National Golf Club proudly offers three unique dining opportunities. The Golfer’s
Lounge, the most casual of the three restaurants, is a perfect place to
relax after
a game of golf and catch the big game. The Café Pacific, an
upscale casual dining
restaurant, is known for its creative menu
that features eclectic twists and the
freshest of ingredients.
Our dining experience at the Café Pacific was simply divine and you will immediately
sense a welcoming ambience reminiscent of old world Italy. Renaissance décor
adorns
the walls above plush, inviting luxurious red velvet seating, while gentle
music
fills the air. The impressive menu allows you to imagine yourself worlds
away, as
the Café Pacific boasts one of the most extensive selections of authentic California-Asian
cuisine. Whether selecting one of Executive Chef - Kevin Aidukas’seafood specialties,
rich pasta dishes, or aged prime steaks,
a deliciously authentic meal and delightfully
memorable experience awaits.
I eagerly picked up the wine list, whose pages offer one of the best selections
in
the city. I was impressed by the “wines by the stem” selection alone; it ranged
from familiar to surprisingly high-end, allowing guests with exquisite tastes
to
be satisfied with just a glass. French, Italian, and California wines
were particularly
well-represented.
I started with my favorite Veuve Cliquot Champagne
and my
guest opted for his Long
Island Ice Tea.
Panko Fried Calamari
Executive Chef - Kevin Aidukas offers an array of varied and creative starters,
adding a bit of variety to the classic steak house meal. We settled on a variety
of appetizers that looked so great that we could not resist: the Panko Fried Calamari,
the Charcuterie Plate, with a variety of assorted imported meats and cheeses, a
great way to start, and the Pan Fried Dungeness Crab Cakes, also
Charcuterie Plate
upon our server
eager recommendation, Phyllo Wrapped Baked Brie with Fresh Fruit, Tree Ripened Peach
Chutney, one of the best baked brie we have had in a long time also we tried the
Fried Maine Baby Scallops & Florida Rock Shrimp and the
Butter Poached Maine
Lobster, seared Potato Dumplings, Chanterelle
Mushroom, Baby Corn,
English Peas,
Haricot Verts and Herb Butter.
They arrived, of course, exactly at
the same time,
our team
of servers simultaneously placing the plates on the table.
Pan Fried Dungeness Crab Cakes
Phyllo Wrapped Baked Brie
Butter Poached Maine Lobster
All of these appetizers I must say that each bite was sublime—mild, silky
mingling
with sweet, smoky and spicy flavors. I would certainly
rate each one a 10 in my
scale from 1-10.
New England Clam Chowder
Fried Maine Baby Scallops & Florida Rock Shrimp
As far as soups and salads, we also were tempted to try the New England Clam Chowder
Herb Buttermilk Biscuit, and the Maine Lobster Salad with Romaine
Hearts, Avocado,
Boiled Egg, Grilled Sweet Corn, Pancetta Wheel, Watermelon Radish, CA Mine Shaft
Blue Cheese, and Mustard Tarragon Vinaigrette.
Maine Lobster Salad with Romaine Hearts
Our mouths lingering over flavorful starters while anticipating entrees to come,
it
was time for a refreshing interlude. Café Pacific’s lobster salad fit the bill
perfectly.
Mustard Tarragon Vinaigrette dressing covered crisp romaine and silky
Bibb
lettuce, mixed with sliced boiled egg, Grilled Sweet Corn, Pancetta Wheel,
Watermelon Radish, CA Mine Shaft Blue Cheese As if to ensure decadence
even in a
salad, blue cheese and bacon crumbles garnished the dish. Each
bite was creamy and
refreshing, the clearly-fresh vegetables bursting
with moist flavor and the lobster
was also very good and tasty.
Mesquite Wood Grilled Certified Angus 14oz. Ribeye
It takes little to spot Café Pacific flagship entree on the menu: Mesquite Wood
Grilled Certified Angus 14oz. Ribeye; aged Cheddar Smoked Bacon Mashed Potatoes,
Bloomsdale Spinach, Grilled Asparagus, Portobello Mushroom
Comfit, needless to say,
it took little to persuade us to order this steak,
simply delicious and the Ribeye
was melting in your mouth.
Mesquite Wood Grilled Certified Angus 8oz. Filet Mignon
For our other entree, my guest choice was the Mesquite Wood Grilled Certified Angus
8oz. Filet Mignon; Chive Infused Mashed Potatoes, Grilled Asparagus,
Oven Dried
Tomato, Caramelized Sweet Onions, Chanterelle Mushroom Red Wine Sauce. Steaks are
prepared medium-rare ensuring a solid sear and short cooking time. Juices are sealed
in, steaks cooked to perfection. Each bite was better than the last.
Pan Roasted Petrale Sole Parmesan
Also, per our server’s suggestion, we should try the Pan Roasted Petrale Sole Parmesan,
oven roasted Tomato Risotto with Buffalo Mozzarella, Pea Shoot
Tendrils, English
Peas, Grilled Asparagus, Meyer Lemon Casper Butter
Sauce, very good and the risotto
reminded my of my mother’s
home made one, which she brought the recipe from Italy.
Mesquite Wood Grilled Alaskan King Crab Legs
And the last one was a surprise by the chef, he insisted we tried the Mesquite Wood
Grilled Alaskan King Crab Legs, with Herb Roasted Fingerling Potatoes, Braised Cipollini
Onions, Haricot Verts, Baby Corn, Roasted Garlic Lemon Butter. The
crab legs were
succulent and supple, the pale white flesh eagerly absorbing
a clarified butter
sauce to reach decadent heights. The
garlic lemon was perfect for this dish combo.
Grand Marnier Soufflé
Baked Alaska
When your meal consists of filet mignon and fish, dessert hardly seems necessary,
yet we saw no reason to cut our indulgent meal short. The Grand Marnier Soufflé
was a sweet tooth’s dream: white chocolate woven into a moist, almost fudgy soufflé
surrounded by a pool of chocolate truffle sauce, and the Baked Alaska also
delicious
and beautifully presented was a wonderfully playful
end to an astoundingly elegant,
refined meal.
On the way out, we paused in the tiny alcove between the bar and the exit. Elegantly
appointed with a gorgeous fireplace, it afforded one last moment of calm before
stepping out into the night. Like the sports figures and celebrities whose
autographed
photos filled the walls, we agreed: Café
Pacific had our seal of approval.
And lastly, Trump’s, the golf club’s newest fine dining addition, offers world-class
dining, an exceptional wine list, and service you would expect with a name like
Trump’s. For breakfast, lunch, dinner, or in-between, Trump National offers
the
perfect setting for a casual get-together, or a lavish evening out, do
not miss
it, absolutely worth your driving!
