Shades Restaurant Review

Brunch which is available every Sunday from 11 am to 3 pm.
When you find yourself in need of a place for fun then look no further than Shades Restaurant & Bar, the fun center of the Resort. Culinary masterpieces are created daily at the accomplished hands of our award winning Chef, Jeff Littlefield. Complimenting wines have been hand picked by our in-house Sommelier,
Patton Penhallegon. Join every Thursday night from 5:30pm to 7:30pm for
fabulous wine tastings from around the world. Whether sitting inside the
beautifully decorated restaurant or out on the pool-side patio, there
is a magnificent view of the Pacific Ocean. The always popular
Champagne Brunch is available every Sunday from 11 am to 3 pm. 


At the Sunday Brunch, you will enjoy a wide variety of foods including a
carving station, made to order omelets, Belgian waffles, fresh
sushi, and an irresistible assortment of desserts.


Throughout the brunch, they have a talented magician
who provides entertainment as he makes his way to each table
mystifying our guests with his slight of hand. we love his magic!


Shades couples quality gourmet classics and creative fusion techniques to bring guests the consummate dining experience in their refined, yet vibrant, dining room. Add to that a monumental bar supplied with a fabulous wine and spirits collection, and whether you start dinner with a signature martini or finish your lunch with one
of their delectable desserts, you will be delighted, shades is fantastic!
   Crab Cakes                                          Wild Mushrooms

To begin our meal, our knowledgeable and accommodating server, brought us a generous platter of hors d'oeuvres that were specifically created for the seafood
lover. Exquisitely delicious Maryland Crab Cakes were artistically arranged over
a bed of Lakeville Farms Lettuce, Currant Tomatoes and Avocado Vinaigrette.
Made with crabmeat, diced red pepper and crowned with a dollop of
chipotle remoulade, they were some of the best we had ever tasted.

Grilled Jumbo Prawns

The Grilled Jumbo Prawns served next was exceptionally bountiful, served with
Nante Carrots, English Peas, Shrimp Scented Fondue... Also, we tried their
super delicious starter: The Warm Wild Mushrooms, with Goat Cheese
Crouton, Parsley and Tarragon, one of the best mushrooms we have
ever tasted! Do not miss their amazing Mac and Cheese, with
Cheddar, Radiatore Pasta & Cracked Black Pepper.

Braised Short ribs

Our server graciously assisted in presenting our entrees. Roasted Blue Nose Sea
Bass offered a fabulous cut of Sea Bass that had been pan seared to perfection
and placed atop a serving of Cannelini Bean Ragout, Artichoke Confit Salad.

Snake River Farms Kurobuto Pork Rib Chop with Rissole Potatoes


Also served was an unusual and satisfying treat referred to as Snake
River Farms Kurobuto Pork Rib Chop with Rissole Potatoes,
Frissee, Parsley and Cider Dressing.

Grilled Center Cut Swordfish

Our amazing Chef, also sent us the sampler of the Grilled Center Cut
Swordfish, with Lemon Grass, Anson Mills Polenta Frites and
Sorrel, I guess this one was heaven!

For dessert, we tried a specialty of the house; we got a taste of their 3 delectable Berry Crumble Pie, Warm Break Pudding, and Chocolate Truffle Cake definitely takes the sophistication level of the ordinary rendition up a notch. These Thick, rich and creamy, were a was a true classic when garnished with an assortment of fresh berries and homemade vanilla ice cream. We also enjoyed a slice of devastatingly luxuriant pies that promised to have us counting calories for the rest of the week.

Thoroughly satisfied, as we left the table we stopped briefly to chat with some friends who were dining al fresco, looking at our fabulous ocean view “How was your
meal?” one of them asked smilingly, already knowing the answer.

I couldn't help but take advantage of this golden opportunity. I paused
dramatically for a moment, and had a feeling of contemplation.
