Atlantic Bar and Grill Restaurant Review
Owners Alexander Levin of Pangolin, LLC., Alan Moore, Louis Angelo and
Jeremy Dietz did an amazing job
by bringing the east coast vibe with a
Mediterranean twist to the Cahuenga corridor with their new venture,
The Atlantic Bar & Grill, which we recently discovered.
Steak Frites for $20.00!
Rattle Snake
East Side
Moscow Mule
Consulting Chef Gary Robbins menu offers a range from a raw bar and fish of the day
to steak frites. The
Plateau de Fruits de’Mer might set you back $65, but it can easily
feed two or more people. Creative
cocktails range from East Side,
Rattle Snake,
and the Moscow Mule which were truly
amazingly prepared and tasted
very good before, we turned our attention
to the fantastic menu.
Plateau de Fruits de’Mer
We started our meal with a sampling of signature starters; the Atlantic’s Plateau de Fruits de’Mer with
drizzled with a variety of oysters, lobsters, shrimps, crabs and mussels. With each bite we realized how
fresh and delicious this dish was, while
the unique flavor of the amazing fruits de mer offered a subtle
bitterness to the delicious red sauce spicy and lemon sauce that the dish was presented.
Atlantic Steak and Frites
Next we sampled their Atlantic’s Steak Frites along with the Walnut
Vinaigrette Green Salad the dish was
beautifully plated, running the gamut
of colors and textures. We found ourselves reluctant to dig in, not
wanting to
disrupt the beautiful presentation. But dig in we did, and we were delighted. The
meat was
more flavorful than most meats we’ve tried in the past. Tender and with
a satisfying give and bursting
with flavor, we almost forgot it was not well done. This dish truly deserves a moment’s contemplation: the
meat, soft to the touch and barely requiring a knife to slice through its tender grain, feels like velvet
and practically dissolves upon touching the tongue. After a pause, savoring our first bites, we
ecstatically tackled the rest of the dish, my date, ordinarily not a meat fan,
was especially surprised
at how much she enjoyed the dish.
Walnut Vinaigrette Green Salad
The Walnut Vinaigrette Green Salad was also
delicious! The dish was
absolutely sublime.
Atlantic King Salmon
Next we tried their King Salmon, that was truly delicious and juice. Usually
the Salmon tends to be a bit
dry, but this one was perfectly done. And intensely flavored, deliciously sweet, and firm to the bite.
Each bite of the gently seared
the Salmon, provided an intense burst of almost buttery sweetness.
Profiteroles
Raspberry Lemon Tart
Feeling that we could not be more satisfied, we were surprised when our desserts proved us wrong.
Their desserts are prepared in house, and their freshness is evident
it was an explosion of flavors.
The Profiteroles: Ice cream and Valrhona chocolate sauce was fantastic. And their daily house Made Tarts:
Raspberry Lemon was
also superb, having a tart creaminess and gentle texture.
The Atlantic Bar & Grill staff is friendly, and the owners are of the most gregarious hosts around.
Details such as a low-priced menu clearly have the locals in mind. However, the menu, with its exclusive
selection of Prime meats and quality seafood, makes this restaurant no ordinary “local’s place.” Whether
you are in Los Angeles
for the weekend or have lived here for years; whether you are looking for a taste
of history the Atlantic Bar & Grill provides an elegant and epicurean
dining experience for Los Angelinos
and visitors alike.
