WORLD CHILDREN’S INITIATIVE (WCI)
Celebrated - PROJECT HEART – UGANDA
2nd Annual Fundraising Benefiting Children with Heart Defects.
On November 3, 2012,
World Children’s Initiative (WCI) celebrated its 2nd Annual Charity Benefit for Children
with Heart Defects. Founders and President of the foundation Sanjay Daluvoy, MD, Dr. Ratnayaka, Pratheepan Gulasekaram, and Craig Sable were present and shared with us a video where Dr. Ratnayaka performed the 1st pediatric cardiac
catheterization in Uganda during its inaugural mission trip in February 2012. The video was amazing to watch
how Dr. Ratnayaka did such an incredible surgery.
World Children’s Initiative WCI is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving and rebuilding the healthcare
and educational infrastructure for children in developing areas both domestically and worldwide.
WCI firmly believes that only through adequate health and educational initiatives will the bodies, minds and hearts
of destitute children worldwide be properly nourished and prepared for successful and productive lives.
WCI seeks to accomplish this goal through strategic partnerships with U.S. and foreign corporations, leading
universities and academic institutions, and governmental and non-governmental entities, which are operating
to serve this population.
Starting in November 2011,
WCI in a public-private partnership with the Ugandan government and in association
with Siemens Medical has been building a Children’s Heart Center at Mulago Hospital. Primary construction
and equipment of the catheterization laboratory is projected to be completed by 2012.
Project Heart- UGANDA was a nice event, where guests enjoyed the multimedia Art Exhibit, Showcasing the art of
featured Artist Sedi Pak, Filmmaker Tanuj Chopra, including Blue 13 Dancers performance, Silent Auction, music,
delicious appetizers and open bar.
Project Heart- UGANDA used Art as a vehicle for a change.
