Celebrated Their 4th Annual Savor the Flavor

Beer and Spirits Extravaganza!

Soroptimist International of Manhattan Beach celebrated their 4th Annual Savor the Flavor Beer and Spirits Extravaganza on Saturday, November 10th, 2012 at Four Points by Sheraton LAX.

Soroptimist International of Manhattan Beach is a community service organization for women working in (or retired from) business, government, education and the professions. Founded in 1953 and celebrating almost 60 years, the Manhattan Beach club is part of the largest classified service organization for executive and professional women in the world, with 95,000 members in 120 countries. Soroptimist is derived from the Latin "soro" (sister) and "optima" (best), meaning the Best for Women.

 
With the support of their generous sponsors and attendees the past 3 years they raised money for a women’s resource center being built in Rosarito, Mexico, one in Panama and a rain water project in Kenya. This year they hope to raise even more money to reach their goal!

Savor the Flavor was an event full of fun, all guests had the opportunity to Unlimited Beer Tasting, spirit tasting, delicious appetizers, 2 Raffle Tickets, music, dancing and a take home mug!! They also ensured their entire guest had the enjoyment of alcoholic beverages, which also included a shuttle bus service.

   
The women’s Opportunity Awards program was established in 1972 to assist women with primary financial responsibility for their families to obtain the skills-training and education necessary to improve their employment status and standard of living for themselves and their family.

 
Each year, $1.5 million in club, region and federation funds are awarded to more than 1,000 women in SIA’s 19 member countries and territories. The women receiving these financial awards may use them for any costs associated with their educational efforts, including tuition, books, child care, and transportation.

Soroptimist programs recognize and support women and girls in our local community. Each year, more than $1.5 million in cash awards are given at various levels of the organization thru Soroptimist International.

 
Internationally, Soroptimists support programs to advance the status of women in all corners of the world.
