Anaheim White House is still Anaheim’s most famous hidden treasure!
This
beautiful historical landmark was skillfully crafted by a gentleman named
Dosithe Gervais in 1909. Mr. & Mrs. George Waterman purchased the home in
1916; but soon after, the home was sold to Dr. Truxaw and his wife, Louise.
The Truxaw family would call this lovely mansion their home for 50 years.
Dr. Truxaw was well known to all in the community, with a reputation for
“never refusing to help anyone” and for delivering 3,500 babies, spanning
three generations. He died in 1952; his loving wife remained in the home
until she died in 1969. And sadly, in 2001, one of the Truxaw’s last
remaining daughters, Louise Sutherland , passed away a month after
fulfilling one of her last wishes, which was to have one also luncheon at
Anaheim White Hose. She “celebrated” her remaining days of life with one of
her favorites, a special Anaheim White House martini!
In 1987, Italian immigrant Bruno Serato took over the ownership of the
restaurant, which now features Northern Italian cuisine. His award-wining
excellence and signature entrée befit the establishment, now Anaheim White
House Restaurant, and his philosophy is simple; to treat each and every one
of his patrons as a distinguished guests in his home. Simple as it may be,
Anaheim’s once “hidden treasure” is now recognized worldwide, and is now a
“home” to many.
Numerous celebrities such as Danny De Vito, Andrea Bocelli and even former
President Jimmy Carter have graced the home’s threshold. Likewise,
Anaheim White Hose has also graced catering events for many, including
Madonna, and has even traveled as far as Bora Bora, to delight dinner guest
with our magnificent fare.
Not only has it been a home to so many distinguished guests, but it is also
a home to several awards of excellence. Anaheim White House garnered the
DiRoNa award, a very prestigious award given to only a select few in all of
North America; and also the highly coveted Golden Sceptre award, the
highest honor
award given by the Southern California Restaurant Writers
Association. Their
latest achievement is The Five Star Diamond Award, awarded by
the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences, which boats Donald Trump on
the Board of Trustees. New of this cuisine extraordinaire has been the
subject of numerous reviews in international publications in Italy and
Japan.
From Anaheim to Bora Bora, from Jimmy Carter to Madonna, Bruno’s simple
philosophy along with the culinary talents under his direction has not only
added to the success of this beautiful landmark, but it has made Anaheim
White House a true legend on the international culinary map!
Our dining experience at theWhite House was magnificent! Starting from the
excellent service and friendly atmosphere, we felt like we were are dining
at our own home, but with elegance and finesse!
John Chavez the manager (pictured above), Patrick Fraigoun our Maitre D’, Franco Pafundo the
Beverage Manager, and our waiter Valentin gave us absolutely the best,
outstanding and royal treatment that anyone could have! They all
made us feel
like we were royalty, and they served us the best 5 course meals and the most beautiful
and delicious presentation. The meals were prepared by the most talented Chef,
Eddie Meza whoose talents go beyond any expectations. Chef Eddie has
been the White House Chef
for about 16 years.
Assorted Appetizer Plate
Our dining experience began at 8:00pm, we were introduced to the entire
crew which welcomed us to their beautiful Restaurant. We were very excited
about this place, and I was already anticipating what was going to be the
most extraordinary culinary experience of our lives!
Our drinks were fantastic, we had the best Long Island Ice Tea and as per
the Somelier Franco’s suggestion I had the L’Apostolle Merlot (2003), a
delicious wine, perfect for the food that I was about to have.
We first got a delicious combination of esquisite Pacific Ahi Tuna Tartare
and avocado, then we had their famous French touch; Escargot con Aglio e
Erbe; Bourgogne escargots baked with garlic and herbs in Pernod flambe.
Next we had the most beautiful creative Nancy Reagan salads; served with baby
mesclun green tossed with passion fruit-ginger vinaigrette, served in a
rice paper basket, and a Ceasar Salad Ariana; tender romaine hearts with
Parmesan shaving and Ceasar dressing, service in a charming rice paper
nest, absolutely gorgeous!
We also tasted 3 combinations of delicious pastas; the Juventus Ravioli;
Ravioli stuffed with a combination of Italian cheeses in a wild Porcini
mushroom sauce, then the Tomba Rigatoni Formaggio, a large tube paste
tossed in a sauce of melted Grana Padana Parmesan, sautéed with bacon and a
touch of cream, and the Gnocchi con Formaggio; Delicious homemade potato
dumplings with their famous Gorgonzola cheese sauce, excellent!
We also experiment the Pasta e Fagioli soup, prepared with spicy Italian
sausage, pasta & cannelloni beans, a truly home made soup that makes anyone
smile!
For our entrée we had specially prepared by Chef Eddie, a magnificent
combination of their Gamberoni with linguine, the amazing Gauthier Maine
Lobster with white chocolate mashed potatoes, and the most tender Filetto di
Romeo and Juliette (a
petite filet mignon cut, oven roasted served with
baked polenta over a sauce of Gongonzola cheese). Our dishes were decorated
with beautiful sculptures made with golden crispy dough that were so
amazing to see… that each dish literally deserves a picture for
posterity.
We had for dessert their signature Madonna Souffle, which takes about 25
Minutes to be served, but it was worth the waiting, Grand Marnier souffle
served with a Crème Anglaise, german chocolate ganache and a Chantilly
whipped cream and then the sweet pastry apple tarte serviced with vanilla
ice cream!
We could not pass the opportunity to photograph the amazing Pyramids Sugar
dessert, one of the most which was so gorgeous, that did not look real,
truly the most amazing and fabulous dessert presention I’ve ever seen! A
truly most have for any special occasion.
It was absolute a dream to have this marvelous dining experience at the
White House, I certainly recommend this excellent 5 stars restaurant to
anyone who appreciates the fine living and fine food, also for any special
ocasion in your life, this place will certainly not disappoint your
expectations, you can be sure that the staff will make the most
unforgettable night of your life!
Thank you White House! We will never forget and will certainly go back!
Grazie Mille!
