MUSIC LUMINARIES GATHER TO HONOR JAMES TAYLOR AS
2006 MUSIC CARES PERSON OF THE YEAR

WHO:

Performances by India.Arie, Jackson Browne, David Crosby, the Dixie Chicks, Dr. John, Carole King, Alison Krauss, Taj Mahal, Randy Newman, Bonnie Raitt, Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen and James Taylor himself.
Attendees include MusiCares® Foundation and Recording Academy® President Neil Portnow, and MusiCares Foundation Board Chairman Les Bider. GRAMMY®-winning producer Phil Ramone is executive producer for the event, and Dinner Chairs include music industry executives Gary Borman, Don Ienner, Mo Ostin and Jann Wenner. In addition, a host of A-list celebrities and prominent music industry executives are scheduled to attend.

WHAT:

GRAMMY-winning music icon James Taylor will be honored as the 2006 MusiCares Person of the Year at a special event celebrating his extraordinary musical achievements and his philanthropic commitment to arts, environmental and humanitarian causes. The Person of the Year benefit begins with a cocktail reception and silent auction sponsored by AEG featuring such items as an Ebony Gibson JR-200 Acoustic Electric Guitar signed by Paul Simon; "France's Finest — The Grand Tour of France" with Viking River Cruises; a Peter Max personal portrait and VIP meet and greet at Max's New York studio; three days and two nights aboard the world-famous Onassis yacht "Christina O" for 10 guests; a ladies 18 kt. ruby and diamond ring by Johnathon Arndt Gallery of Jewels and Tesoro diamond cufflinks by Jason of Beverly Hills. A gala dinner follows, and the celebration is highlighted by an award presentation and star-studded tribute concert.
