With Le Merigot Beach Hotel a little bit of France's has somehow found its way to Santa Monica. And the illusion is certainly heightened with its restaurant, Cezanne, which under a features a menu that mirrors the legendary cuisine of Provence. The luxury and elegance of Le Merigot is duplicated in its restaurant, Cezanne. With a smart contemporary decor and ambiance the restaurant offers a very superior dining experience. We were introduced to sous chef Jaime Palamino, and his exciting which will remain memorable.

We had the opportunity to mix and taste a number of the Chef's creations. For drinks, I started with a fresh mojito and Long Island Island ice tea, and for dinner we had the White Chardonnay 2004 from California, a great wine to have with seafood.

Starters at our table included the temptatious Lobster Bisque which flavor was magnificent, served with a small shot of sherry liquor, simply delightful and with large pieces of lobster, I loved it!

Our salad was also very entertaining and delicious with excellent Dungeness
crabs and guacamole, a great portion, enough to share for two people, and
very filling and rich as well.

Then we had the Spicy Ahi Tuna Tartare, which was very good, and the truly
amazing Macaroni Cheese with truffles and big pieces of succulent lobster, never tasted such a delicious macaroni cheese, we also had the tempura shrimp
with 2 sauces, truly ya-mo!

Cezanne has very fine acoustics and all through the evening we were entertained with the pianist whose repertoire included pop and Broadway tunes of several decades.

The live music helped make the evening a truly special dining experience with an attentive, helpful staff ready to make suggestions or answer questions as to either the food or the many wines available from a well-selected list of mostly vintages with a sprinkling of French as well.

The entrees at our table were a fair showing of the menu. I selected the Roasted Chilean Sea Bass Pip‚rade of Fennel, Peppers and Leek which we were rather reluctant to share since they were the best we have enjoyed in some time, and the Scallops with crabs on a delicious wine sauce, the food was superb, exactly what a great restaurant is all about.

    Apple Tart                                          Lemon Short Cake

Our dessert was the apple tart served with both cream and vanilla sauces and the Lemon Short Cake served with Fresh Market Berries and Strawberry Sauce. A most satisfying conclusion to a delightful dining experience.
