The Sunset, Malibu Restaurant Review
Ever have one of those days when the only thing that would work for dinner
is being in a gorgeous restaurant by the ocean, and experience the best food
you can ever dream of?
Next time the urge strikes, pray that you're in Malibu, California and make
a beeline for The Sunset Extraordinary Continental Cuisine. The staff was very
friendly -
this is a family owned and they know how to make you feel at home.
At this place, the name truly says it all, The Sunset Restaurant, is located in
Malibu, with the most amazing ocean view you can ever dream, and the
service is absolutely perfect.

Chef Shawn Davis
This is the kind of restaurant that you can’t wait to go back for more, starting
with the wonderful Chef Shaw Davis, who had an authentic and magic talent to serve
us the best food with the most beautiful presentation and taste, and our wonderful
manager and our waiter.
The restaurant's glass walls afford a stunning view of the endless Malibu ocean
and the deep blue sea beyond. Owners were kind and smart enough to add some good
food to the mix, which is all the more reason to pay this restaurant a visit. The
dining room is very elegant and stylish but at the same time it is very relaxed
and makes you feel you are on vacation.
Spicy Tuna Roll Apetizer
We had a selection of appetizers; that included the Spicy Ahi Tuna Roll with Ginger, Wasabi, and Cucumber, the New England Clam Chowder, flavored with sherry and topped with chives, Sautee Jumbo Shrimp Served with Chopped Tomato, Garlic and White Wine, all delicious choices to start your dinner.

Next we had the Pear and Goat Cheese Salad, deliciously mixed
Baby Lettuce,
Candied Walnuts, Goat Cheese, Raspberries, and
Roma Tomatoes Tossed with Balsamic
Vinaigrette.
We continued with the taste of their amazing Lobster Ravioli, served with Saffron sauce and Asparagus tips. The main courses were equally as impressive.

Our big entrées were the Maine Lobster; warmed through in Garlic Butter
Served with Sautee Pea Tendrils and Garlic Broth.

We had the Sauteed Wild Mushrooms as a side order.
The freshness of the Lobster juxtaposed the earthiness of mushrooms.
I loved
this dish combination was delicious.

We were blessed with the finest meat you can have; the Ostrich, a fennel crusted
tenderloin served with peas and Chanterelle mushrooms, despite of the complexity
of this dish, all the ingredients came together to create a beautiful and harmonious whole. The meat fell apart at the slightest touch of the fork and melted in the
mouth, its texture so delicate, and flavor so intense.

Then we were surprised by the Braised Farm raised Rabbit, served with porcini mushrooms, garlic mashed potatoes and natural braising jus, the meat was light and refreshing,
and the flavor was sweet and natural.

Our grand finale was the Pepper New York Steak, this New York sliced with Tempura
Onion Rings, this scrumptious, meat was prepared to perfection, and there is no
way you can’t love it. I must say that we were very impressed by the treatment we
had and by the quality of food, taste and presentation.

Flourless Chocolate Cake for dessert was commendable and the
Crème Brule with Berries and Grand Marnier was simply yummy.

The Sunset Restaurant also prides itself on their innovative Chef’s Tasting
Menu – From Thursday to Saturday Only.
Chef’s choice of 5 Course Meal at $75.00per person.
The wine list was well chosen and had great bottles at all price levels.
Have your after-dinner port in the bar downstairs, which also has a winning westward view. The food at The Sunset Restaurant is exquisite and the servings are very generous.

I will be dreaming for days about the Sunset Restaurant incredible location and
food. All entrees were great, and the seafood ones stood out in particular. The
wine list is extensive and the waiters are only too happy to help you with your
decision-making.
This is a great restaurant that we truly fully intend to keep visiting!
I was really looking forward to eating at The Sunset and loved everything about
it, including meeting the owners, which also own Moonshadow, Allegria and Ca Del
Sole.
We look forward to going to those restaurants and of course to let you know our thoughts!
Thank you all for your courtesy and thanks to the Executive Chef Shawn Davis, with your incredible talent and for giving us an unforgettable night to remember.
Overall, the surroundings, service and food at the Sunset Restaraunt added up to a marvelous time. I have heard many people say that this is their favorite restaurant-now I know why, and I also wanted to thank the
owners: Rodolfo Costella andFranco Simplicio for having us there! Grazie Mille e Arrivederci!
