Avenue Restaurant Review

The Avenue Restaurant offers a casual dining atmosphere and moderately priced meals, it is a great spot for entertaining family, friends and also for romance! Also
they serve brunch on Saturdays and Sunday, and their brunch menu is fantastic,
from Frittatas and Eggs Benedict to their popular Sautéed Frog’s legs. The
Avenue's menu also features a variety of appetizers, salads, chicken, steak
and seafood entrees, as well as desserts.

I loved the fact that this place is just couple blocks away from the gorgeous
Manhattan Beach. It is a very cozy restaurant and candle-lit room giving off an
inviting, comfortable feeling where the fabulous chef Christian Shaffer has been
giving the South Bay a taste of gourmet food with his second restaurant, Avenue.
(Shaffer also owns Chloe restaurant in Playa del Rey) since October 2004.
The ambience at Avenue is relaxed yet elegant with tasteful yet whimsical
accents including blue lamps at the bar and a large chandelier with teal
colored lights in the dining room. The open kitchen set-up allows
customers a glimpse of the culinary action.

Long Island, Champagne

They also have a great bar, where you can enjoy delicious drinks and a variety of selected wines and champagnes. I had the Pommery, Brut Royal champagne, a
great choice! The bartender was also very friendly and fun, the entire restaurants atmosphere makes you feel like you are in your own home.

Seared Foie Gras

We started with a selection of their most popular appetizers; Seared Foie Gras,
White Nectarines and Elderflower Glaze, very tasty and very good, I loved it, followed by their delicious Sweet Corn Chowder, Smoked Paprika Cream,
you cant’ miss this soup, a perfect start for a summer night!

Sautéed Frog’s legs

My guest wanted to try their Frog Legs, with Roasted Garlic Tart, Herb Cream,
it was a very delicious and a new taste for me, which I thought was pretty good
and tender, the texture is almost similar to chicken legs.

Crab Stuffed Crimini Mushrooms

Another delicious appetizer was the Crab Stuffed Crimini Mushrooms, Chive
Glasage, prepared with love and care, and this one, has real crab so you will not be disappointed. I loved this dish, and the combination is also great and creative. Our waiter told us, not to miss their special salad, the Panzanella, Cibatta Crouton with Red Onions and Cucumber. What a superb salad, large enough for two.

Wild Alaskan Salmon

I must say that the entrees were all to die for, and I choose the Wild Alaskan Salmon, Roasted Celery Root, Fuji Apple, Onion Marmalade, please, take a look at the photo taken of this dish, do I need to say that it was outstanding? Truly the most delicious and tender Salmon in Los Angeles! I did not want to share this dish, it was all mine!

Australian Lamb Loin, with Saffron Risotto

My guest tried the Australian Lamb Loin, with Saffron Risotto and Baby Bok Choy.
I am not into meat, but this one, I guarantee that even vegetarians will love it! The risotto and the Lamb were a great combination and the flavors were truly delicious. Don’t miss this one. In fact, I recommend you to try all of them, they were certainly impeccable and the service is not only friendly but also great and very attentive.

Of course we must have a taste of their desserts, when we looked around, at
every single table their guest were eating desserts, so why not?

We always asked our waiter what he recommends, and he suggessted the
Hot Chocolate Cake, Toasted Marshmallow Spoon, great choice,
and great taste, an absolute must have!

What a feast, we also had the Blackberry Mascarpone Napoleon, Blackberry Compote and the Dapple Dandy Plum Upside-Down Cake, Ginger Crème

Each one was an incredible way to end our delicious meal.

Blackberry Mascarpone Napoleon

I want to thank you Chef Christian Shaffer for your hospitality and for this
unforgetable dinner, we certainly will go back and bring our family and friends
along with us to enjoy this great restaurant.
